A football team from Khmelnytska oblast bested seven other teams to win the Shkiryany Myach competition in Kyiv on May 27.  They will progress to play in
the Danone Nations Cup tournament in Lyon, France September 2-4.

The Shkiryany Myach competition is for boys aged 11 to 14 years, and the winners represent Ukraine during the international competition sponsored by Danone. The winning team from Netishyn represents the best of 54,000 school football teams from across Ukraine, involving 600,000 boys.

In France, the Ukrainians will vie play for the Danone Nations Cup in a World Cup-style tournament involving 31 teams from around the world.

"This year is very special for Ukrainian football because Ukraine's national team will go to the World Cup for the first time in history," said Danone Ukraine General Director Stephane Batoux.  "The success of the national team is due in part to the nation's successful development of youth football. I wish success to both of Ukraine's national teams."

The winning team from Netishyn, Khmelnytska oblast, will travel to Lyon, France
for the Danone Nations Cup in September.
